Joshua C. Franklin
Josh Franklin has been presented with a number of opportunities through his undergraduate study. Participating in the European Solar Decathlon as the lead Landscape Architect for the Lumenhaus, representing the Landscape Architecture program as the first student working on a combined Bachelors/Masters degree and taking part in Istanbul Design Week (IDW) are just a few such opportunities. Due to the nature of his research and experiences, Josh has a specific interest in the development of sustainable environments. As a graduate student, Josh has spoken at two conferences about the benefits of sustainable development and how to improve the urban environments humans inhabit. When Josh leaves Virginia Tech this spring, he wishes to pursue opportunities to change the way people impact their surroundings through development. His goal is to alter the way future generations develop to produce environments that embrace their surrounding ecosystems, instead of exploiting them.
